Faith, Dinners, and Hand Prints

Another week has gone by and I am simply amazed at the number of things that have been accomplished as we walk the path before us.  Each day, each week is another step closer to Family Life Church becoming a reality.  This weekend we will have a vision dinner to share for the first time live and in person with a group of people what it is that God has placed in our hearts.  We have had over 40 rsvp within the first weekend of sending invitations.  It overwhelms me to see such quick response - and concerns me for our space.

A quick side note - Family Life Church at Cypress Vision Dinner is this Sunday beginning at 5pm at Cypress Kids Learning Center, 15802 Jarvis Rd, Cypress.  If you did not get an invitation but would like to hear more about Family Life Church and the vision God has placed on our hearts then please come and join us.  We do not wish to leave anyone out.  However, please rsvp asap.  (Wow, that's a lot of initials!)  We do have limited space available and we do wish to feed everyone so please let us know you are coming so we can save you a spot!

Let me share one quick story - I was introduced to Christ at a young age and accepted his invitation to life at a young age.  There is a particular aspect of the Christian life that has always drawn me in - faith.   Not simply saving faith because no one can come to Christ without a measure of saving faith granted to each of us who follow.  No I am speaking of living faith.  You know, the kind spoken of in Romans 1:17 quoting the prophet Habakkuk "the righteous will live by faith" or in Hebrews 11:6, "without faith, it is impossible to please God."  I have made some risky decisions over the years on this faith.  I left for college at East Texas Baptist University knowing that I would need a certain scholarship from a singing group to help cover tuition though I had never auditioned nor did I know how to sing a lick of harmony.  Tori and I married with a year of college yet to go with no jobs except the work-study ones.  We moved to the Houston area upon graduation with no job prospect or plan and God introduced us to the world of Christian schools.  We had four children in a 1200 square foot house with less than a $50,000 combined salary.  (Still have the house!)  I left my first job with only a hope that I would be offered a job that did not exist at the time.  And we are now walking away from the largest salary I have ever had!

Hindsight is 20/20.  It is incredible to look back and see how faithful God has been.  And let me say this, we also have had incredible family support who have always been willing to step in wherever needed to help us walk the path we have.  However, through each step of faith there is a hand print of God.  You cannot imagine what it does to your faith to look back over your life and see God's hand prints all over the place.  Sure its a little scary at times.  You should hear Tori tell these stories!  But it is worth it!  Our faith is genuine and nothing can take those hand prints away from us.  And now we have stories like those mentioned in Psalm 78:4 to share with our children and the generation to come the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord!
