Lulls, Lulls, and more Lulls
The last couple of months have been extremely busy for us in all that we have been doing to move forward with the new church plant. There is a lot involved to keep up with personal life, church life, and future life. But I have also noticed that after meeting deadlines and checking off lists there is sometimes a lull before the next task can begin, a waiting period. Sometimes it feels like the calm before the storm. Are you afraid of the the lulls? In the fast-paced world in which we live with so many to-do lists and living by calendars and schedules, what do we do when there is a break in the activity?
I am a fairly laid-back kind of guy. I do not get in a hurry for much. And I have to say that I rather like the lulls. Lulls allow me to reflect on all that is going on in our family, lulls allow me to sit outside and enjoy the weather, lulls remind me of a steadfast, gracious Lord who has richly blessed me. I'm talking about the sixteen years, almost half my life with my beautiful wife kind of blessed, the four healthy, incredible kids who make me smile everyday kind of blessed, the surrounded with loving, genuine friends who spend a weekend rearranging a preschool room only to replace everything just as it was hours later kind of blessed, the sleep well at night kind of blessed. I hope you will welcome the next lull in your family's hectic routine. I gotta say I think the kids need to learn this one also. Stop and smell the sno-cones, the sonic drinks, the cantaloupe or whatever helps you to see what great gifts the Lord has given to us!
"Be still and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10
